Where there is a flaw, there begins originality.
Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery: it fills the cracks with gold, it doesn't hide them. The broken line becomes the object's brightest part. Leonard Cohen said, 'There is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in.' In the wabi-sabi aesthetic, imperfection is not a shame, but the signature of authenticity.
